Michael Allen Rose is a performance artist and musician, the main driver behind the band FLOOD DAMAGE, educated at Second City, and even one of the very few rare male burlesque performers you can point at.
But you may recognize his name more as an author, from books like Jurrasichrist, ROCK AND ROLL DEATH PATROL and BOILED AMEERICANS. He is the author of one of my favorite all time books, WE HAVE ALWAYS LIVED IN THE BREAKROOM, and I’ve enjoyed his friendship for a long time now.
Michael had a keen sense of narrative so his songs are stories, his performances are stories, and his writing, well, definitely stories. Talking with him helped me work out the details of the MekaDisko book being released soon and his overview of that story in IN THE BEGINNING from the ICARUS single was defining for me.
We worked on a song for his band and decided to do one together. That song, GASLIGHTER under the name ATAXIS, ended up a powerhouse of a track that I love. I look forward to recording more with him. It’s the first track on the WE ARE 20 PULSEBLACK compilation.
